The aspiration Ad Caelum (to the sky)—in ancient times the ramparts of a city may have been mud or stone, patrolled by foot soldiers. Now our boundaries are abstractions, existing as signs and symbols and guarded from the air.
This series began as a reflection on the roots of contemporary nationhood that followed the disastrous 30 Years War (1618-1648). As the work progressed it became a broader enquiry into an earlier instinct—the human drive to carve habitable order out of chaos. The aspiration to tame the wild, rule the waves and even conquer the skies.
A C-Type (Chromagenic print) is a traditional photographic print where the paper is exposed using lasers projecting a digital image on to the paper rather than a bulb shining light through a negative. The paper is then processed in the traditional way using photographic developer, followed by a bleach fix and wash to remove the chemicals from the paper. The result is a colour photograph of the highest quality.
No, each limited edition is made to a particular size for the life of the edition. But if you are interested in a different size in a possible future edition, please drop me a line in the comment box below, I'll be happy to consider it.
Each C-Type or Giclée artwork is printed to order at a UK print bureau that I have personally colour proofed the artwork with. This can take 4-6 days before shipping. Therefore I usually aim to deliver within 6-12 business days.
Once your order has shipped I will email you the tracking information the next day. This generally comes online 24 hours after I have shipped your order.
I generally use Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is a tracked and insured service. For some international orders I may opt for other carriers such as UPS, DHL or FEDEX.

No. My prints are sold unframed, to be framed or mounted to the buyer's preferred specification.
If your item(s) arrive in a damaged condition I will exchange for a re-print free of charge. I will compensate you for returning the damaged print to me so that I can dispose of it and there won't be an issue with editioning.
Since each image is printed specially to order, I am unable to offer a returns service.
