Bataclan

A series commemorating the massacre that took place on 13th November 2015 at the Bataclan Theatre, Paris, as a result of which 90 people lost their lives.

These images were shot exactly one year after the attack, the day before the theatre reopened. People laid tributes and lit candles. A hooded passerby demonstrated his objection by striking the flowers to the ground.

I chose long exposures to contrast the transience of life with the permanence of death, to represent the passing figures as ghosts.

La vie triomphe toujours, l'amour ne meurt jamais.
